Isabel Pantoja won the Honor Award of Music
receive the Honor Award of the Music of Spain for his "talent as a performer and the unquestionable quality of his career," the Academy said today of Arts and Sciences of Music.
The ceremony for the 15th edition of the Music Awards will be held on May 18 in Madrid
Isabel Pantoja "has managed to pick up the baton of the best historical interpreters of the genre, with an accent and personality, keep raising the couplet, and expand its international dimension," said the Academy, which delivers these awards annually in 28 categories.
Born in Seville on August 2, 1956 in an artistic family (his father was a flamenco singer and her mother, dancer), the singer has been described in Spain as the "queen of song."
His album 'Sailor of lights', dedicated to her late husband, the matador Francisco Rivera 'Paquirri', sold in 1985 over a million copies and became one of his greatest successes in Spain and Latin America.
Award of Honor to gather next week in previous years has gone to artists such as María Dolores Pradera, Raphael, Montserrat Caballé, Enrique Morente, Miguel Rios and Paco de Lucia.
In this 15th edition, Latino Honor Award is for the singer, songwriter and music producer Albert Hammond, responsible for hit music in Spain as "It Never Rains in Southern California."
